Feed plastics into the SPC
Once unlocked, feed soft plastics, like bags and film, into the SPC. Repeat as needed. The SPC can compress up to one month's worth of waste.
3
The SPC forms a plastic "block"
Once full, the SPC compresses the plastic into a block, using heat. After cooling, the block is ready for recycling. Mail your block to Clear Drop — we'll handle the recycling with our partners.
4
Recycled, for real
Your block goes to a certified U.S. recycling facility (e.g., Frankfort Plastics, Indiana) to be sorted, shredded, turned into raw material, and reused in durable goods.
Try it for 30 days
If you aren’t satisfied, return within 30 days to get a full refund.
2-year warranty
Our comprehensive protection plan covers OC and SPC top to bottom for free for 2 years.
Free shipping
Clear Drop® ships for free throughout the U.S. (except for Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and other remote overseas territories).

Your kitchen bin fills 10x slower. You've already kept over 3 lb of soft plastic out of the trash.
You've kept 13 lb of soft plastic out of the landfill. Your pantry's tidy, you're saving on garbage bags, and trash day is a cinch.
Our partners transformed your blocks into benches, storage bins, and other useful items. Your trash is now someone's treasure.
About 40 lb of your soft plastic has been recycled, and you've helped save roughly 60 lb of CO₂ emissions.
The Clear Drop SPC uses a patented block-forming system to compact soft plastics that is safe for both users and the environment.
More than 90% of plastic bags and wraps in the U.S. end up in landfills or the ocean.
Globally, five trillion plastic bags are used yearly, but only 2% of soft plastics are recycled.

The technology implemented in the Clear Drop® Soft Plastic Compactor (SPC) is thoroughly tested and proven safe for indoor, at-home use. The SPC does not melt plastic — it only softens soft plastics just enough to fuse them into a compacted block, which reduces volume without releasing harmful odors into your home.
Air quality remains clean during operation (inside and outside the unit). This has been confirmed through multiple professional tests that measured volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the air.
For a deeper explanation, see how soft plastic compaction compares to curbside recycling.
Yes. All of our devices undergo thorough testing for air quality and safety and are determined safe for indoor use. Test results confirmed the SPC does not exceed the Maximum Allowable Concentration (MAC) of any potentially harmful substances during normal operation.
This is one of the reasons the SPC is positioned as a home plastic compactor and soft plastic recycling machine built for everyday households — not an industrial plastic compactor.
Soft plastics are one of the hardest waste streams for households: bags, wraps, pouches, bubble mailers — they’re light, messy, and often skipped because sorting and drop-offs take time.
The soft plastic compactor turns unmanageable flexible plastics into dense, shippable blocks that recycling partners can handle more efficiently. It removes the biggest friction points:
To make identification easier, you can also use our Clear Drop tools.
And if you want the bigger “why it matters” story — including real outcomes and real products made from recycled soft plastics, explore our detailed breakdown.
The SPC’s monthly power consumption is approximately 3.3 kWh, which translates to around $0.52 per month, depending on your local electricity rates.
It’s designed to be high-performing and energy-efficient — a practical plastic compactor home solution that doesn’t spike your electric bill.
The SPC does not apply a single fixed compression level. Instead, it adapts to the material being processed.
This flexibility is what makes it effective as a soft plastics compactor for mixed everyday household packaging.
The SPC is designed to accept most types of flexible (soft) plastics, including:
Examples of accepted soft plastics:
There are better ways to recycle these types of waste through recycling bins, curbside pickup, or other programs:
Avoid these plastic types as they are not recyclable in the polyethylene / polypropylene flow:
If you want to reduce mistakes and improve soft plastic sorting accuracy, try the Clear Drop recycling scanner or learn how ZeroTrash® AI helps identify soft plastics correctly.
One SPC stores about a month’s worth of soft plastic waste for an average household.
That means you can keep soft plastics contained, compacted, and out of your trash bin — without piles of bags or “where do I put this?” clutter.
We recommend removing stickers and food residue when possible to keep the SPC clean and running smoothly and to prevent odors and buildup on the rollers or storage area.
Cleaner input also helps improve the quality of recycled-output material — which matters if the goal is turning waste into real products.
If you want the “what happens next” story and why cleanliness matters, here’s a good explainer.
We’re working with partner recyclers to collect and process SPC blocks safely and sustainably.
You can mail blocks to us using your prepaid shipping envelope (included in the subscription plan).
If you generate blocks more than once per month, you can order extra prepaid mailers.
No, the labels don’t expire after exactly one month.
Your subscription includes one prepaid mailer per month (delivered as a pack of 3 each quarter) as an average usage guide, but we know soft plastic use varies.
If it takes you longer to fill your SPC block, you can still use the label later.
Important: USPS doesn’t officially expire unused labels, but some post offices may decline to process older labels depending on local policy.
To avoid any issues, we recommend using your labels within a few months of receiving them. If you need to skip a month or use one later — that’s totally fine.
If you need more than one shipment per month, you can order extra prepaid mailers (3-pack).
No. The SPC is designed to be self-contained and does not require consumables.
That’s part of why it works well as a long-term plastic compactor machine for home — simple to maintain, predictable to use.
