What to do when your block is ready?

1

Book a pickup

Fill out a quick pickup request form with your pickup address details.

2

Pack it up

Once your SPC has produced a solid block of soft plastic, place it into the prepaid return mailer provided in your subscription.

3

Leave it at the door

On pickup day, leave the envelope by your doorstep or mailbox for a contact-free pickup. The courier will collect it and take it to one of our recycling partners.

4

Recycled, for real

Your block goes to a certified U.S. recycling facility to be sorted, shredded, turned into raw material, and reused in durable goods.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, your prepaid shipping labels do not have a strict expiration date.
Your subscription provides one mailer per month, based on the average pace of one SPC block per household.

However, since soft plastic use varies, it’s perfectly fine if it takes you longer to fill your SPC.
You can use the same label when your block is ready, even if that’s after a month.

That said:

  • USPS does not officially expire labels, but some post offices may decline older ones depending on internal policy.
  • For best results, we recommend shipping your SPC block within a month or two of receiving your mailer.

This ensures the most efficient delivery and avoids unnecessary delays.

We don’t recommend it.
While grocery store recycling bins might seem convenient, they’re designed for loose, lightweight plastic film like grocery or bread bags — not dense SPC blocks.

Most of these bins are serviced by third-party contractors using automated sorting systems that can’t process compacted, mixed soft plastics.
Even more importantly, research shows that most store drop-off programs don’t lead to real recycling.
A 2022 Greenpeace report found that the majority of soft plastic collected through retail take-back programs ends up in landfills or incinerators.

In contrast, when you ship your block using a Clear Drop® prepaid mailer, it’s sent directly to certified U.S. recycling partners who turn it into new materials, such as outdoor furniture or durable home goods, as part of a verified, closed-loop recycling system.

For a deeper look at why “convenient recycling” often isn’t real recycling, read “Soft plastic recycling: key challenges and solutions”.

The entire cycle stays within the U.S. No exports, no unknown outcomes.

Most soft plastics aren’t truly recycled today, and greenwashing makes it hard to know which solutions are real.
That’s why we built Clear Drop® - to make soft plastic recycling verifiable, trackable, and local.

Here’s how it works:

  1. You compact your soft plastics into a block using the Soft Plastic Compactor (SPC).
  2. You ship the block using your prepaid Clear Drop mailer.
  3. Our verified U.S. partners, including Frankfort Plastics Inc. in Indiana, receive it.
  4. The block is chopped, cleaned, and processed into plastic feedstock.
  5. This raw material is used to make new durable products such as furniture, organizers, or tools.

Every block you send stays within the U.S. — no landfill, no export, no incineration.
It’s real circular recycling, not downcycling.

Each SPC block weighs about 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg) and is highly compacted, making it a dense and solid material.
While the blocks aren’t intended for construction, we’ve seen creative uses, from art installations to small garden projects.

We collaborate with recyclers to transform these blocks into functional products made from post-consumer soft plastic.
