FAQs

Everything that is organic and fits through the receptacle can be stored in our Organics Collector. The unit is designed to be fully integrated with outdoor or large-scale composting solutions. It allows for mess-free and odor-free indoor organics collection that can be stored for up to one week before it goes to your composter.

Our approach is totally different from other home-composting systems. While some units help process organics quicker than traditional composting, they aren’t for everyone. At Clear Drop, we develop products that can benefit just about anyone, with the most important aspects of the ZeroTrash lifestyle in mind: ease, convenience, and efficient pre-recycling.

The Organics Collector is not a composter but a low-power device that makes collecting and storing organics at home easy and convenient. It keeps organic waste from developing an unpleasant odor, for roughly one week, eliminating the need for frequent removals.

The OC consumes very low amounts of energy, with a peak consumption per month of 5.1 kWh, which will cost you roughly $0.84 monthly.

The OC is designed to handle a variety of kitchen organics, including:

- Fruit peels
- Vegetable scraps
- Coffee grounds
- Loose tea
- Egg shells
- Rotten fruits/vegetables
- Leftover food
- Meat, bones, fish, and seafood

Please avoid putting the following in the OC:
- Liquids (soup, juices, water)
- Large volumes of fat (oil, butter, margarine)
- Non-compostable waste (plastic, paper)
- Other types of recyclable waste (metal, glass)
- Large amounts of meat, cheese, and yogurt

It's not necessary! After emptying the bin, you can simply wipe it down or clean it if needed.

If you'd like, you can use compostable bags that are designed for organic waste. Avoid using plastic bags as they won't break down with the organic waste.

Once the food waste is dried, you can dispose of it in a municipal food waste or compost bin.

Our device utilizes ozone to sanitize its internal components, preventing bacterial growth and odors. This process is brief and occurs periodically, with safety indicators that include blue LED lights and a faint hissing sound during operation. You may also notice a subtle scent similar to fresh air after a thunderstorm.

Our product has obtained ETL certification, signifying compliance with North American safety standards. The ETL Mark is recognized by authorities and code officials across the U.S. as proof of product compliance. This certification affirms that our product is safe for use and meets rigorous health standards.

The filter typically lasts up to 3 months with regular use. However, the lifespan may vary depending on the moisture level and type of organic waste. To ensure optimal filtration quality, we suggest replacing the filter every 3 months. Simply remove the old filter and insert a new one. You can order replacement filters directly from our website (coming soon).

Follow these recommendations to ensure that your OC remains effective.
